Prism Play at the Peninsula Museum of Art

The Prism Play opening and reception on Saturday, May 21, 2022 was a big success with 80 people attending.  The Peninsula Museum of Art gallery, located at the The Shops at Tanforan, proved the perfect venue for showcasing the 62 art quilts for this show. The layout of the show allows visitors to view the spectrum of colors almost as if they were standing inside a prism.

Working with the Joen Wolfrom color tool, participating artists submitted monochromatic work that, together, represent the full spectrum from cool yellow through green to blue, and on to violet, red, and orange, ending in warm yellow. The exhibition includes 62 art quilts representing the work of 46 SAQA Northern Californnia/Northern Nevada artists.

Barbara Kibbe – Chair of Exhibitions, Cara Gulati – Prism Play Exhibit Curator, and Megan Kamrath – Co-Director of the Peninsula Museum of Art.

Artist Talk – Several artists talked about their quilts in the show on Saturday May 28. It was exciting to learn more about the show concept and the artists’ experiences and challenges working within a limited palette and the size (15″ x 45″) constraints for the show.

The show will be at the Peninsula Museum of Art
