From the exhibition catalog:

The magic and experience of a live performance leaves many impressions. Whether a comedy, a musical or a drama, it moves us all in different ways. These visions can bring a smile to our face, a song to our lips or serious thoughts and curiosities. It suggests the feelings, the colors, the movement, the rhythm, the harmony of music or a dramatic presentation. A challenge for the artists in this exhibition was to create a visual interpretation of an aural experience be it music or a theatrical performance. Artists were given the choice to use the same source of inspiration and interpret it in a wall art piece, a 3-D piece and/or a mask. Our hope was to encourage entries for this exhibition from members who had not exhibited in a SAQA show before, as well as, those more experienced artists. We wanted all artists to expand on this theme in ways we couldn’t yet envision. This exhibition provided the opportunity to have fun, be spontaneous, playful and experiment. While keeping in mind the prompt of Fibre Theatricks, artists focused on themes of music and theatre.

After reviewing the slides for Fibre Theatricks, I came to the conclusion that art quilts are alive and well! My goal was to select the best works from those entered that represented overall success, relationship of work to personal statements, and demonstration of innovative and diverse approaches to a common theme
